Oh my goodness Ruth Jones this is your finest masterpiece。 I’m trying to write this through the tears you caused, it’s one of those books that you can’t put down but when you finish it you feel bereft。 Four generations of a family, so many secrets and so much pain which we know happens in most families but there is always that one person who is the glue, the one who, even after suffering grief herself can be the one who fixes the pieces together。 This is the third book I’ve read from Ruth, I lov Oh my goodness Ruth Jones this is your finest masterpiece。 I’m trying to write this through the tears you caused, it’s one of those books that you can’t put down but when you finish it you feel bereft。 Four generations of a family, so many secrets and so much pain which we know happens in most families but there is always that one person who is the glue, the one who, even after suffering grief herself can be the one who fixes the pieces together。 This is the third book I’ve read from Ruth, I love her storytelling as she tells it from the heart and even when I’m reading I read it in her lovely welsh accent。 Thank you so much even whilst I’m lying in bed ill on New Years Day this book brought so much joy and plenty of tears and no spoilers as I would tell everyone to read this book and shame on you if it doesn’t effect you the same as it did me, Ruth Jones please keep on writing ❤️ 。。。more

It took me a long time to get into this book - found the first third quite hard going。 As it progressed though this is a really beautiful story, well written, with some very sad parts but also some amazingly uplifting elements。

I received an ARC of this book via netgalley and it's publishers。 It is populated with believable, imperfect characters。 Set in wales the narrative moves from town to country and further afield to outline the life stories of each of the MCs。 I have run the whole gamut of emotions reading this book and whizzed through it at pace。 As a whole it reminds us that love is unpredictable but that real love is everlasting and unchanging despite altering circumstances。 I loved the fact that this character I received an ARC of this book via netgalley and it's publishers。 It is populated with believable, imperfect characters。 Set in wales the narrative moves from town to country and further afield to outline the life stories of each of the MCs。 I have run the whole gamut of emotions reading this book and whizzed through it at pace。 As a whole it reminds us that love is unpredictable but that real love is everlasting and unchanging despite altering circumstances。 I loved the fact that this characters had as many warts as beauty spots on their personalities。 i enjoyed the fact that i could not predict the way the narrative moved and I would definitely read more from this author。 。。。more

I absolutely adored ‘Never Greener’。 I enjoyed ‘Us Three’ too, so had high hopes for this latest book from Ruth。 I was disappointed。 I didn’t really like any of the characters and didn’t find myself rooting for them as I had done in previous books。 The situations and conversations were a bit forced and daft。 I was pleased when I got to the end。

Superb book。 Great characters。 I love how she brings family history to life。 My oy regret is that I finished it。 Truly superb。 I wish I could write like that

Beautifully written Ruth Jones is a wonderful writer, and this is her best work so far。 The story is set in Wales and centres around the upcoming 90th birthday of Grace。 Her granddaughter Elin is planning a surprise party for her, as Grace is very special to her and has been like a mum。 Her actual mother, Alys hasn’t been in her life for thirty years。 She is an alcoholic, who gave Grace many worries, and was a neglectful parent to Elin。 Also key in this tale of four generations of women is Beca, Beautifully written Ruth Jones is a wonderful writer, and this is her best work so far。 The story is set in Wales and centres around the upcoming 90th birthday of Grace。 Her granddaughter Elin is planning a surprise party for her, as Grace is very special to her and has been like a mum。 Her actual mother, Alys hasn’t been in her life for thirty years。 She is an alcoholic, who gave Grace many worries, and was a neglectful parent to Elin。 Also key in this tale of four generations of women is Beca, Elin’s daughter。 Elin is a headteacher, very disciplined and academic, while Beca is the opposite。 This isn’t a book full of non stop drama, instead it is a beautifully crafted tale of family relationships。 Things can go wrong, but it is never too late to put them right。 I loved it and read it in two days。 。。。more

Absolutely loved it。 Read this on my E- reader and don't always see the cover page and after a while I thought ah it's set in Wales how lovely, then realised it was written by Ruth Jones and the penny dropped。This is the first Ruth Jones novel I have read and I wasn't disappointed。 Ruth Jones has shown her talent for writing with TV shows that I have loved。 Ruth has bought a band of Welshness to her writing。 I'm not Welsh but live in Wales and there is a little bit of Welsh colloquialism that fe Absolutely loved it。 Read this on my E- reader and don't always see the cover page and after a while I thought ah it's set in Wales how lovely, then realised it was written by Ruth Jones and the penny dropped。This is the first Ruth Jones novel I have read and I wasn't disappointed。 Ruth Jones has shown her talent for writing with TV shows that I have loved。 Ruth has bought a band of Welshness to her writing。 I'm not Welsh but live in Wales and there is a little bit of Welsh colloquialism that feels like a big hug。 I'm sure non Welsh readers would pick up on the sentiment however。The book is about 4 generations of women。 Nearly 90 Grace who is as fit and feisty as they come。 Grace is estranged from her alcoholic daughter Alys and is feels that the three decades without her should come to an end。 Then there is granddaughter Elin - Aly's daughter who is different from Alys in every way being far more conservative in her outlook to life and very unforgiving of her mother but struggling with her marriage and teenage daughter Becca。 Becca has never met her grandmother Alys and believes her to be dead。 Becca struggles with her relationship with her mother purely down to her mother's expectations of her and has few friends if any as her mother is also head teacher at her school。 Becca's true love is music - the piano。 Then she meets no holds barred say it as, doesn't mince her words Soozi and helps Becca navigate who she is。The story is told from several POVS and some flashbacks which helps the reader understand the characters and aids their development。 Each character is really quite likeable。This is a story of sorrow, joy, family love, romantic love, forgiveness and acceptance。 It's a story that made me laugh and my heart ache and the end didn't become obvious to me until I was about 80% through it and I wasn't disappointed when my suspicions became apparent。Definitely an author to follow。。 Ideal book for readers of general fiction and women's fiction。#LoveUntold。With thanks to #NetGalley, Transworld Publishers, Random House and Bantam press for this preview read。 。。。more

I don't think I've ever read a book where I found all the characters unlikeable more than in Love Untold。 I think the audiobook definitely didn't help, with the narrator (the author itself) doing extremely annoying impressions of all the characters。 Didn't expect the plot twist at the end but I just found it。。。 unnecessary。 I don't think I've ever read a book where I found all the characters unlikeable more than in Love Untold。 I think the audiobook definitely didn't help, with the narrator (the author itself) doing extremely annoying impressions of all the characters。 Didn't expect the plot twist at the end but I just found it。。。 unnecessary。 。。。more

An engaging tale of family, love & loss through the eyes of 4 protagonists- Grace, Alts, Elon & Beca all mothers & daughters。 At time’s depressing at others uplifting, the story brilliantly keeps the reader caring about all 4 characters equally。 It was a little predictable in parts but really involving。

I really enjoyed Ruth Jones’s latest。 Though I’m sure the I would have picked it up based on the description alone had Ruth Jones not narrated the audio version。 I did guess the ending early on but did still enjoy this family drama。 It felt reminiscent of her show Stella which I adore。

I read a lot of books but this one has blown me away。 An absolute corker。 A truly beautiful read。 I defy you to not have a tear in your eye at the end。 A fantastic cross generational piece of writing that addresses so many issues。 I read the second half in one afternoon as I could not put it down。 Fantastic read! Thank you Netgalley

First of all, I am besotted with Grace (the great grandmother) and very close to wild swimming after reading this! I do love a great #pensionerinthepages and Grace is as good as it gets - sassy, kind, open and loving。 I think my favourite dynamic was the one between Grace and Beca (great-granddaughter), and how supportive Grace was of Beca’s new girlfriend Suzie (also a fab character!)。 Whilst the Alys and Elin characters didn’t get me in the heart in quite the same way, they still added a really interesting and unique dynamic to the family and obviously created a lot of the key plot points - and it’s great to have such extremely different characters for contrast, so many readers will see themselves reflected in some way here。 This just felt like the biggest, most heartwarming love-in of a book! Whilst there were a few big plot twists and unexpected moments, and a couple of tearjerking, devastating moments, the overall feeling I was left with after reading this was a full heart - it’s just a total joy and Jones clearly gets people! Can’t recommend it enough 👏 。。。more

Lovely heartwarming book。 Ruth Jones never disappoints。 Ruth really brings these characters to life in the audible version。 A must read! Listened to on audible version and it was fabulous!

Ruth Jones writes her characters well。 They are real, believable and likeable。 You can’t help but like or root for them。 I listened to this as an audiobook and Ruth Jones always narrates her books herself。 So, it sounded Welsh, it felt Welsh and I liked that her fictional town of Dylan’s Quay was based on New Quay- I could picture it。 All in all, a good read。

BrilliantA brilliant piece of cross generational understanding, the author captured beautifully the needs of all her characters who I could see and relate to from page to page。 I have read many books that deal with human sexuality and the cruel deprecation of love and would rank Ruth Jones' among the best。 BrilliantA brilliant piece of cross generational understanding, the author captured beautifully the needs of all her characters who I could see and relate to from page to page。 I have read many books that deal with human sexuality and the cruel deprecation of love and would rank Ruth Jones' among the best。 。。。more

I loved this! There’s no crap with Ruth Jones。 She writes like she’s not trying to impress anyone, not trying to do anything groundbreaking, just writing a good story with good characters。 Loved it。
